My story
Eric Homestead, PhD
I’m a research scientist.
But more than that.
Passion.
My passion is helping others achieve their goals and dreams. How does Rad Solutions fit into this? I have the experience & education, and a passion for practical science applications that help people achieve their goals. By helping you, I also help others.
Experience.
I have been conducting research since my undergraduate education at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly). Well…actually, before this, as a kid exploring the tide pools of Southern California and trying different Lego building techniques with friends to win demolition derby challenges. I love exploring, ideating, and problem solving which is a huge part of research.
My PhD is in Integrative Physiology and my projects in the Applied Exercise Science Lab were rather diverse. From using heart rate to predict energy expenditure during running, cycling, rowing, & strength training to comparing core temperature differences when wearing a synthetic shirt or ice-cooled water-perfused vest & sleeves during a time-to-exhaustion intense cycling effort to suffering through short bursts of supra-maximal cycling to see how it impacts subsequent easier cycling efforts, my team and I covered a lot of stuff. Overall, these studies examined the factors that impact the estimation, measurement, and interpretation of energy expenditure during exercise (or how many calories it takes to exercise). P.S. I also have experience being a stay-at-home dad, which is a part-time (really full-time) job.
Entrepreneur.
I wear many hats. If you have done a little research on me, you’ll see that I also have my own web design + development company and a bookkeeping company. (I made this website.) I like learning new things. It was also challenging if not impossible for anyone to conduct sports science research in 2020 (ugh, right). So I pivoted into some new stuff.
